"Ruth achieved the most in the last 12 weeks of her program but she had to go backwards before she could go forwards"
I started out just looking for the ‘next thing to do’
I was on the search for something to help me get leaner and stronger. The last thing I tried before I did MP was nutritional cleansing and before that point I had tried every other FAD diet, cleanse shake program and detox you could think of.
I worked at a local gym teaching classes, swim school and doing my own classes alongside training in the gym.
Some weeks I would easily rack up 12 hours of exercise doing 2-3 sessions a day.
This was on top of everything else my life entailed i.e – work, mothering, running a household. I was striving for perfection and I was on a downward slope realizing perfection was unattainable.
"Ruth does the right type and now only exercises 2-3 hrs a week"
In the beginning it was hard...
I was so used to using exercise as a way to cope with old wounds or de-stress so when Megan showed me I was over-exercising I couldn't imagine ever cutting back.
However, slowly I made my own decisions to cut back on the exercise and as this happened I had to start dealing with losing my mother when I was 12 years old. My journey started to take a turn towards healing those wounds and acknowledging it was the root of all my problems.
"Years of over exercising & FAD diets mean't Ruth had to rebuild her metabolism."
My transformation started going backwards.
My Nan (Mum’s Mum) passed away this year and it triggered my PTSD. I started to become unhappy in my self again which lead to the unraveling of the good habits I worked so hard to develop over the previous 12 months.
I had to pull myself out of the spiral. What finally made me stop spiraling was my Lorna Jane Active wear was getting too tight but by that point I had totally confused myself, focused on the wrong things and felt like a total mess.
That's when Megan told me I had to fall in love with the food all over again and share that love of food with my family.
In hindsight when I first started I treated MP like a diet, I wanted to know the grams of protein and all the small details I thought was the magic pill. My photos show the yo-yo I went on and the mindset I had with Metabolic Precision in the beginning.
"Ruth's oldest daughter learning to cook Fast, Delicious and Nutritious Food = PRICELESS"
In my final MP Program all I ate from was the cookbible.
I didn’t worry about how much I ate, I just ate food. Comfortably I could eat 5 meals a day so that’s all I aimed for but I never got hung up if I missed some meals.
After going backwards my clothes were tight and uncomfortable so these last 12 weeks was all about getting confident, loving myself and fitting back into my much loved Loran Jane Activewear.
As soon as I started eating from the Cookbible again I felt a huge weight off my shoulders, my oldest daughter Ess loves cooking so I was a really proud moment for me seeing her get excited in the kitchen with the food we were cooking for the whole family.
I was able to publicly acknowledge the anniversary of my mothers passing for the first time in 15 years this year. I finally felt peace and content for the first time.
